The Mother’s Day Gift No One Thinks Of (But Should)

I’ve been an independent college advisor for more than 20 years, a husband for 31 and a Dad for 27. So I say this with the love and experience of all three.
– What it’s going to cost.
– Where their child will get in.
– Whether they’re doing everything they should be doing… and doing it at the right time.
I know this because I get plenty of emails from moms (with a 4:30 am time stamp) filled with the quiet stress that comes from a night of Googling. She’s filled with the angst of knowing that there’s a lot at stake—and not a lot of clarity in the information available.
If you Google ‘Paying For College’, for example, you’ll get more than 62,000 links. The issue is not a lack of information; in fact your mom is drowning in it.
Now for a lot of moms, there’s going to be a big payoff at the end of the journey.
“Mom… I got into [School].”
“Mom… they gave me $[XX,XXX] per year.”
“Mom… it’s actually affordable.”
I hope you’re able to give your mom a gift like this one day. It’s a great moment, and one I’ve been honored to be a part of for thousands of kids over the years…including this one just last week.
It’s an award of $48,860 from Williams College —all of it in grants and scholarships.
And while that number may stand out, what matters more is this: these kinds of outcomes are happening more often than most families realize. And they are available to you. (see more here)
But you have to know how to navigate the process well enough to find them. That’s the gift you can give your mom for Mother’s Day.
After nearly 20 years of research and hands-on experience with over 2000 ‘regular’ families with caring, but overwhelmed moms (probably like yours) I know that there are exact strategies that can help you overcome the challenges of information overwhelm. I know exactly which systemic loopholes you can use to optimize your admissions chances and the landmines you can navigate around that will skyrocket your chances for receiving institutional scholarship awards.
I’ve seen these offers myself MANY times with MANY different families I’ve worked with.
I get if your skeptical. When we first started working with students two decades ago, I remember so many people (my own mother included) scoffed at the idea of hiring someone to coach you through the college planning process.
Until they finally saw the results of the people who received the acceptances and the money to say yes. The students we work with enjoy multiple college acceptances and save an average of $33,000 per year off their college bill.
So, I want to ask you: Is your mom becoming increasingly stressed as she juggles the demands of parenting, her work, your classes, sports and other extracurricular activities as college looms in the background?
Or, are YOU that mom?
If so, you don’t need to tackle the college admissions process alone – and you don’t need to doom scroll through tens of thousands of college planning posts filled with as much misinformation as credible data.
What you do need is a plan with actionable positioning strategies that apply to your family’s personal objectives, educational aspirations and budget. And, this Mother’s Day I’m offering you/your mom a way to actually get that plan… including the exact same advice I offer my private clients… for free.
If you’re shopping for a mom (or you’re one one yourself), give the gift of a little more clarity, a little less guesswork, and a much better sense of what’s ahead…
This is your chance to have me walk you through how admissions and financial aid decisions are really being made right now, and how you can be best positioned for success.
During this working meeting, you’ll get an accurate evaluation of where your child stands admissions-wise at the schools they’re considering, what those schools will likely offer them in financial incentives… and you’ll also hear my specific recommendations on how you can strengthen your position right away.

This gift won’t come wrapped in a box (and it is only available for the next few days). But for a lot of moms, it’s exactly what they’ve been hoping for.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the fabulous moms in our lives.
