  1. Not all schools award financial aid in the same way. Some schools are more generous than others, based on their financial aid policies and on how badly they might want you to attend.
  2. Use the College Board’s “Big Future” application to get school-specific information about financial aid generosity, both need-based and merit-based.
  3. If you are a need-based candidate, be sure to select schools that are generous with financial aid.
  4. If you are not a need-based candidate but you want a discount, then be sure to select schools where you might find a merit scholarship opportunity
